Blizard

Inspired by the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. I painted this after reading 'Into Thin Air' by Jon Krakauer which details his version of how events unfolded on 10th - 11th May. Eight climbers were caught in a blizzard and died whilst attempting to descend. This disaster received  widespread publicity and raised questions about the commercialisation of Everest. The controversy about who and what was at fault for the disaster is still debated today.
