Wax Lyrical

I find wax fascinating - the way it changes shape, reforms, takes its own path, on its own journey. Candles give light and warmth. Some light candles in remembrance of someone, others light candles for their scent and for decoration. 'Wax Lyrical' was inspired by the way wax changes and reforms - so can we. The wax dictated the composition - blobs, trails, splatters. I chose golds, blues and silvers to give the painting a celestial, ethereal feeling.

The flickering flames becomes the paint brush, dancing around the canvas. The wax flows, the painting grows layering up, blues and golds - a balance between warm and cold until the composition feels right and emanates warmth and light.
